Anysa & Simon | Adelaide Wedding Photographer | Intimate Backyard Wedding

Intimate backyard weddings and elopements are definitely something I hope to have the honour and pleasure of photographing more often. Anything that showcases a couple’s individuality is a grand thing. If you know me, then you know I love simplicity, authenticity and depth of emotion. So when I was asked to capture my dear friends Anysa & Simon, marrying in her Dad’s backyard with only 12 guests present, I couldn’t wait!

I love photographing love. That’s really where it’s at. This beautiful, relaxed (and stinking hot!) day had all the feels.

When Anysa met Simon, he came as a package deal with his two beautiful children, and for someone as great with kids as Anysa is, it was perfect and she immediately bonded with them. They have developed such a beautiful relationship and family and Simon has effortlessly melded into Anysa’s family too. You can see this in the family photos :D

They have shared values and it shows. Simon came into Anysa’s life just as she was losing her beautiful Mum, and he never wavered in his support- no small thing when your relationship is in its infancy. One of the loveliest aspects of the day, was that Anysa could have her Mum there- you will note the chair and portrait present during the ceremony for her, and they married in front of her Mums favourite wisteria plant.

Anysa and Simon’s soon to be official sister-in-law ‘Marry Me Annie’ was their Celebrant, and Anysa was given away by two absolutely delighted children. Lots of happy tears and so many laughs throughout the day.

A yummy buffet provided by Style & Graze followed the ceremony, plus a Crispy Creme doughnut cake. Wine and conversation flowed, the Aus Open played in the background. Later, as the sun started to set, we went outside for couple portraits. I truly believe you can take beautiful photos anywhere and as we wandered in the front and back yard we certainly achieved this. We chatted and laughed and documented their contagious joy.

Later, we all headed back to their home and the kids went to bed after a big day. The three of us sat and drank red wine and chatted, followed by a delicious home cooked breakfast courtesy of Simon the next morning. What a privilege to share that special time with them.

My heart was full this day!
