“I’m engaged Shell! I want you to be my photographer!” Fast- forward to Skycity Darwin in May this year for the wedding of my dear friend Kirsty to Jason. (Can I just say here I love a destination wedding?!) Few things make me happier in life than seeing good things happen to good people. Kirsty and Jason sharing their lives together is one of these good things!

I met Kirsty on our first day of University when we commenced our Bachelor of Midwifery together. We were both young, single mothers of similarly aged children and we immediately clicked and became fast friends. We went on to work together for a few years and then Kirt, as close friends and family know her, moved on to the next destination in her life’s journey in remote NT. We have always stayed close, and I remember her excitement and happiness at being reunited with Jason, whom she’d known in high school, and their subsequent love story, culminating in their marriage.

It was a truly lovely day, and it was such a privilege to be able to share it both as a friend and as a photographer. I know how hard she worked in the planning and it was truly wonderful to see her vision come to fruition- it’s sure not easy planning an interstate wedding from a remote location! The day was emotive, joyous and lots of fun. You can feel their happiness in their images, and family and friends were the focus to help them celebrate. The venue was delightful, and beautifully styled, with delicious food. Music by Josh Wyatt kept everyone on the dance floor!

It is difficult to pick a small selection of images to share when you have so many favourites. I especially loved going down to the beach with them at sunset, allowing them some time out together to just reflect and enjoy their moment.
